And again, a comeback. I already visited Vidin twice, first in 2004 with my brother and friends and in 2005 with Tini. Here nearly nothing changed besides our hotel "Dunav" where we stayed this time again. It has been completely renovated and changed from a trashy communist style to something like a design hotel with an extremely friendly staff and reasonable rates. I love this town, although I'm not sure why, since it always rains when I come here. Maybe it's because of all those exuberantly growing plants everywhere and the distance to all the usual tourist attractions. An unofficial sight you shouldn't miss here is the ruin of a synagogue, a great place for urban exploring. You can't miss it when you visit the Baba Vida fortress and go for a walk through the park next to the Danube. Oh, and don't forget to try Shopska Salad, a simple but really delicious dish, i'm lovin' it! That was the first thing I ordered the evening before, besides a Kamenitza beer, of course.
