The weekend was over, Whitmonday, too - this was the day we should hear if we could travel on with our car or if we had to find another way back to Vienna. So our caravan was brought to Ruse where the experts from Opel inspected the engine while we were waiting - first lying in the sun on the banks of the river Danube, then in the café at the garage. After hours of sitting in the sun - could have been worse - we were told that they couldn't or at least wouldn't repair the car and ÖAMTC promised to bring it back to Vienna. Now we had to find some alternatives to get home, but for a start we were again stranded - this time in Ruse because there were no trains or other means of transport to Bucharest on that very evening. From there we planned to go by plan back to Austria, but it seemed that this would take us some more days. A mechanic of the garage brought us to the train station and from there we took a taxi to the city center, where we stumbled into the best place possible: The English Guesthouse. Well, that doesn't sound very local and in fact it wasn't. The owner was Steven, a, let's say, mental Englishman, who didn't stop talking for a minute, mainly harassing his guests but in his very own, very charismatic way so that we were permantly loughing. And he knows everything about Ruse - the restaurant he recommended for dinner was fabulous! And now, on this warm summer evening, Ruse felt like a completely different city compared to our last visit the day before yesterday, it was so much better ...
