Sunday, 23-05-2010 *

The night was very short, but because we had no car we were dependent on public transport. So we were at 8 a.m. at the bus terminal of Razgrad, looking for the bus to Veliko Tarnovo. We wanted to see this city anyhow so why not make the best out of the breakdown and go there? Unfortunately we were too late to get the right bus, so we decided to go to Ruse, where I already was six years ago. But that was better than stay in Razgrad, although it's a nice town, there is not so much to see. Two hours later we strolled through a shabby shopping street to the city center and the old quarter, heading to the river Danube, always followed by "the cloud" but at least without rain. The center was nice, many renovated buildings and pedestrian areas but deserted. During a short break in the floating restaurant "Balkan Princess" we were joined by the sun, which was very pleasing. But that didn't last long, shortly after we left it rained again. As diversified the weater was as, Russe wasn't really spectacular. Nevertheless we had a great day and in the end a sunny picnic next to a playground in a residential area before we nearly missed the bus back to Razgrad. There the warden of our guesthouse welcomed us warmly and prepared dinner for us, combined with schnapps ...
