And again we had to get up early - today we really had to get the bus to Veliko Tarnovo. This time we were lucky and two and a half hours later we were dropped of somewhere in the city and got some coffee to wake up. Then we started to explore the town. We already knew from our guidebooks that Veliko Tarnovo is very nice but we were surprised and excited how very nice and beautiful it is. The town flew like a Tuscan village around the hills down to a valley where a river meandered around a peninsula. The old houses where wonderful, but of course if you took a closer look there were also some more shabby buildings lying inbetween. In addition we had great weather, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and it was really hot. Before we visited our main goal, the famous fortress Tsarevets, we wanted to have lunch. And during we ate, "the cloud" reached us again and it started to rain hard. So we had to stay at the restaurant and wait until it stopped raining. After that we entered the fortress quickly, there was not much time left because we had to be at the bus terminal at seven p.m. and the rain took a lot of time. Anyway, now there was almost nobody but us in this area, including the little "great wall", combined with perfect light and lots of fun. The time pressed merciless, but enjoyed every single minute there, as much as possible. Therefore we had to walk fast and without a break to the bus which we nearly missed again. "At home" our guesthouse warden served again a gorgeous meal and some Schnapps which we enjoyed together with those cute cats - that's the way I love travelling.
